Portugal - Home to the World’s Oldest Dog

Meet Bobi.

31 Years Old and Counting…

Update 10/24/24: Sadly Bobi has crossed the Rainbow Bridge this past week. Rest in peace dear soul.

Mimi and I are both animal lovers, in fact between the two of us we have had 10 dogs over the years. Some of you may have heard about Bobi but in case you have not, his story is sure to put a smile on your face.

Portugal can proudly call itself home to the world’s oldest dog. This sweet guy is a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed often used for guarding property and livestock. Despite the breed's average lifespan of 12 to 14 years, Bobi has surpassed all expectations, living for more than three decades. His heartwarming tale of survival and love in the picturesque village of Conqueiros is truly inspiring. They attribute his longevity to home cooked food - perhaps he is also getting a nip or two of that good Portuguese wine? Whatever the case, it seems to be working.

We wish Bobi continued good health. You can read his full story by clicking on this link: World's Oldest Dog
